Love Is Maturity

Love is Maturity

If you are worried or thinking negative thoughts, switch your thoughts right now.
Think of something you like.  Do it right now.  There is no reason you can’t.

You can become blind by seeing each day as a similar one.
Each day is a different one, each day brings a miracle of its own.
It’s just a matter of paying attention to the miracle. by Paulo Coelho

Everyone needs help and everyone can help someone.
This world would be a completely different place if everyone just helped one person.

Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.
by Mother Teresa

You will become the picture you hold of yourself in your mind.

Self Awareness Of Our Whole Self Is Crucial

Self Awareness Of Our Whole Self Is Crucial

The most fundamental aggression to ourselves, the most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves, is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and the respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently. – Pema Chodron

Everyone sees the unseen in proportion to the clarity of his heart, and that depends upon how much he has polished it. Whoever has polished it more sees more – more unseen forms become manifest to him. – Rumi

Every moment is an opportunity to receive and let go.  I receive love and I let go of pain. – Brenda MacIntyre

The moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. – W.H. Murray

One of the biggest paradigm shifts is that you need to learn society has convinced you that you have to work 9 to 5 most of the days of your life only to retire at an old age.  That is just not true!

Live Your Purpose

pur

Live Your Purpose

When you wake up in the morning, you should be helping God wake you up because you have a strong desire to get on with your day.  Purpose is the acceptance of being in the world but not of it.  You trust God with your life, you listen to guidance.  The world does not seem as noisy anymore.

Purpose creates an awesome center for you to exist in, and in that circle is a brilliant light giving you a peace the world can not give.  It gives you a healthy obsession to act on a strong desire for good.  When we are centered, stress becomes lessen because we are not pulled from every possible direction of doing.  We let go of unnecessary activities, conversations, people and we seek to make our selves more available for results.

Our purpose can change over the years preparing us for greater purposes of sacrifice.  Not that the purpose is grander in contents as it is in size.  There is no greater purpose than being a parent especially when you maximize the opportunity to equip children to be great individuals.  Then, there could still be existing purpose for you where all you have learned while parenting is adsorbed to strengthen you to bless the world.  Soldiers know the sacrifices of purpose and move forward as though it is not happening.

Focus in on your heartfelt desire and conduct your self as this is the day it owns you.  Great things happen when you consciously live in your divine purpose.

Cain May Have Been The First Human To Experience PTSD

Cain May Have Been The First Human To Experience PTSD

The following is written by Dr. Oscar Ramirez. It is an examination of how the body deals with stress and looks at it from what the Bible says.

“The human body has been designed with protective means to automatically cope with severe, overwhelming pain. When a person experiences overwhelming physical pain, the body automatically goes into a state of “shock,” and in life threatening situations, may ultimately go into a “comatose” condition. All non-essential physical functions shut down in order for the body to focus on dealing with the physical trauma it has experienced. The body does this automatically without being told to. If the body were not to react automatically In this way, the pain would be so intense that the body would succumb to it and die. Interestingly enough, the mind usually continues to function, even when the body is in a coma.

God has also instilled in the human mind a way to cope with severe, intense mental stress. When a person experiences overwhelming mental trauma or distress, he suffers a “nervous breakdown;’ which may even lead to a “catatonic state. The body is awake, the eyes are open; but the mind shuts down as it tries to deal with the extreme mental trauma it has experienced. This natural way off insulating the mind from overwhelming mental anguish protects it from the mental strain which would otherwise reach unbearable levels. It is not unusual for people to die from overwhelming emotional trauma.

The spirit of man, his emotions (soul) and his conscience also have a way of dealing with the horror of moral pain or spiritual trauma.

The body continues to function, and the mind also is able to function, but man’s spirit is “deadened; his conscience becomes “callused,” and his heart becomes “hardened.” In the absence of the key aspects of humanity, behavior is typified by a lack of any evidence that these important human elements are functioning.

This is one view of what might be happening to someone experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

When did traumatic stress first begin? One of the first known cases of traumatic stress is recorded in the Bible in Genesis chapter four. Cain killed his brother Abel, and tried to discount the severity of his crime. He experienced denial of this guilt, “Am I my brother’s keeper” which also indicated that his true identity was now in question. The result of all this was immediate alienation from God. Cain became unable to do productive work (Gen. 4:12). He became restless, felt overwhelmed with fear, and helpless in the fact of potential attackers. He wandered about aimlessly. His symptoms were no different than what this generation’s vets experience with PTSD.

The most traumatic experience a human being can encounter is to have incurred the displeasure of God, “feeling separated and alienated from Him. The bad news is that everyone is considered equally guilty before God and thus alienated from Him. “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).

In God’s eyes, the murderer is no more guilty than the liar; “Whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in just one point, he is guilty of all-“(James 2:10)

The good news is that there IS a solution to this crisis of the spirit, soul, and conscience) The prophet Isaiah tells us that God is a reasonable God;”Come, let us, reason together with the Lord…”

Moreover, He tells us that He has a solution for our feelings of guilt as well as for our actual guilt. “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool”. (Isaiah 1:18)

How is this done? The Bible says that the wages (payment) for sin (guilt) is death (Romans 6:23). Isaiah 53 says “all we like sheep have gone astray … but the Lord had laid upon Him (Jesus) the iniquity of us all.” The debt for all the acts committed in war, all your guilt, shame, and sin was laid upon Jesus and His death paid for it all. Why did God do this? “For God so loved the world (me and you) that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him (in what He did by dying on the cross) should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn’ the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth in Him is not condemned, but he that believeth not, is condemned already.” (John 3:16-18)

If Jesus paid for all ALL your sins on the cross (including the wrongs done in the war and even after the war), how many sins do YOU have to pay for? This is salvation, and it is a free gift. Why carry your guilt any longer if God has already made provision to get rid of it? Simply ask God for forgiveness based on the provision that His Son made on the cross in dying to pay for your sins.

There are many other issues in life to deal with, but guilt no longer has to be one of them. It is no longer time to deny, it is time to accept.

It’s time to come out of the darkness… time to come home!”

God Has Always Loved Us

love_poem_400x400

God Has Always Loved Us

I was reading the Book of Genesis recently and I was amazed of God’s love for His creations. So often when I read this book, I was more conscious of the Fall of Man than anything. But this particular time, God showed me something beautiful—His love for His children.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, immediately the consequences went into action. Yes, they had to leave the Garden of Eden, yes they surely had to die and yes they were set to suffer to survive. As harsh as this may sound, God knew what was best for them. He gave them covering for their bodies; drove them out of the Garden knowing if they ate of the Tree of Life they would suffer forever. He did not want that for them.

Even though they were disobedient, He still loved them. I never realized how much God lost in their disobedience. Their perfect relationship was gone. This was a painful time for God.

Gen 6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

Even though Adam and Eve sinned causing us to be sinners, God had a plan to bring us back into His grace. He gave us Jesus. Since the beginning of time God loved us. We are so much like Adam and Eve. We cannot comprehend God’s love for us and we take chances disappointing Him knowing somewhere inside of us He loves us. He will not leave us behind.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I thank you Jesus for loving our Father enough to bring us back home. Thank you!

Focus Is Your Power Tool

You spend most of the day focused on things that don’t matter.

Just take a few moments and focus on things that do.

Don’t search for the truth, bring it with you.

It is not that you can’t or it was not meant to be.

It is only that you just can’t see it right now.

The reason you don’t change for long is because you have a set of beliefs that support the person you are,

What do you want to do?

What is your passion?

You have within you the ability to be better at it than anyone who has ever lived.

What Do You Deserve?

What Do You Deserve?

We tend to be so consumed in our everyday routines of life that we forget our own self-value.

Days appear to be going by now at a faster pace than usual. It is as though we do not have enough hours in a day to accomplish all we desire. Because of this apparent push in time, we neglect to consider whether we are experiencing and receiving what we know we deserve in life from ourselves, others and life itself.

It is time to come to a screeching halt with all that prevents us from dealing with our own self-worth. We all are short-changing ourselves about something in life we know we deserve.
What do you really deserve?

Do you deserve to spend the remainder of your life in the state you are presently in? If so, you must be a person who has taken time out to evaluate your life from time to time. But for those who are not in the state they deserve to be in, you must slow down and invest quality time in your search to find just what you deserve.

It is possible to have what we honestly feel we deserve in life if we choose not to accept that which we do not deserve. We all reap what we sow. However, once we do, we have the opportunity to sow once again that which we would like to reap in the future.

As we evaluate our lives and all the situations, positions, relationships and economic standings we are in, we must come to realize what must be changed or terminated so we can begin to experience and receive what we would like to reap in the future.

This is not an easy move. It is not something we jump into quickly in the physical sense. It is something we begin to give thought to on a regular basis, both mentally and emotionally. It was attention and constant action on our part that has placed us in the state we are in today. Therefore, we must do the same thing to move out of our undesired states into our heartfelt deserving states.

Each one of us deserves the best life has to offer. God did not speak us into existence only to have us settle for less. We must acknowledge our own true worth as a child of God and put away the limited thoughts of second-hand choices in every area of our lives.

It takes one step at a time, beginning with sincere desire, contemplated thought and commitment. You can have what you deserve only when you choose to stop settling for less than the best. Trust God; raise your thought about yourself so the seeds of greatness may begin to grow.

King David Gives Real Help For PTSD

PTSD and Psalm 23

Chris Kyle, Navy SEAL and author of “American Sniper,” who was killed Saturday, was a friend of ours. His death is yet another loss for the special operations community which we’ve served for more than 30 years. Hearts are broken. Anger is reignited. Traumatic memories are triggered. Our wounds are opened once again. And yet, in an irony that trumps Saturday’s blue-on-blue kill, we have a bittersweet opportunity as a nation to reach for another measure of healing and wholeness.

The alleged shooter, Eddie Ray Routh, is one of our own, a member of the U.S. military family. Initial reports reveal that Routh, a veteran of the Iraq war, had been in and out of mental health care. The cost of his apparent slipping through system’s cracks is now incalculable and irreparable. Even more shocking than the news about Kyle and his colleague, Chad Littlefield, is the harsh reality that untold numbers of other veterans teeter on the brink between mental wholeness and mental hell as they struggle to reintegrate into our communities. Last weekend’s tragedy underscores the responsibility that we as people of faith have in helping our veterans to completely come home.

I read a note from a good friend of mine this morning. He is a combat veteran who did back-to-back deployments for 16 years. He talks openly about his struggles with me. He unashamedly claims that it has been his faith in God that has enabled him to find hope and healing and solutions to the cries of his heart. Perhaps you’ve met him, too. His name is David. King David. He is my wounded warrior friend.

David is the best example of a combat trauma sufferer in the Bible. About 3,000 years ago he uncovered his heart of hearts in the Book of Psalms.

Because of David’s songwriting, we know that he wrestled with combat stress. He wrestled with sleeplessness, nightmares, guilt, and an aching body and bones. He cried himself to sleep. He knew the sting of betrayal by a trusted friend. He witnessed thousands falling at his side. He endured back-to-back deployments. He was guilty of fragging by his own orders and infidelity with a subordinate officer’s wife. He experienced both defeat and victory in battle.

David gave us a timeless framework in Psalm 23 for answering a pressing question today: What do families affected by combat stress and the invisible wounds of war need from the faith community? Allow me to share with you some ideas of what we as members of faith communities can do to make a positive difference.

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want
David gets right to the point: God is the Shepherd. God is the Healer. We aren’t. Our job is to find the sheep, in this case, the military members and their families.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters

Veterans and their families are worn out. We need rest and quiet and a safe place to recover. We need healing, Sabbath, and for others to stop talking and listen. Those who are moving through the dark valley need the opportunity to tell their stories, uninterrupted and to interested persons. Let them talk to you. Don’t ask certain questions like, “Did you kill anyone?” or, “What did you see?” Keep it all confidential.

Storytelling requires an emotionally safe place, a trustworthy friendship. Yet many vets and their family members need a safe place from physical harm. It is common for vets with PTSD to have self-destructive thoughts and/or suicidal thoughts. Some family members of veterans do, too. Also, family members may not feel safe at home at times. Offer your home as a refuge from the storm if that is ever needed.

he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness

for his name’s sake.

Vets and those who live with them need a compass, a plan toward wholeness that includes inspirational and informational resources, referrals to support groups or others in same boat, referrals to professionals including pastors/rabbis/spiritual leaders, medical professionals and agency contacts.

Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil,

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff,

they comfort me.

Vets and their family members don’t need our preaching or pushing or prodding. They need us to walk alongside them through the dark stretch of life.

You need to know that there are two types of PTSD sufferers: those who are Pitching Tents Someplace Dark, who have no intention of getting well or moving on, and those who are Passing Through Someplace Dark, who desire to get well and are teachable. The lie is that a vet and his/her family will never get out of this darkness, that his/her new, permanent address is in the valley of the shadow of PTSD. God tells us the opposite. His word says we are traveling through it, not building our houses there.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.

Literally, veterans and their families enjoy a basic, home-cooked meal. Practice old-fashioned hospitality. Invite them to your home. Replenish their physical strength with your favorite recipes. MREs — meals ready-to-eat — get old quick! Figuratively, David means that we need your preachers, teachers and ministers to teach and preach with excellence. Nourish us with truth when we are with you. Consider starting small support groups within your congregation using “Wounded Warrior, Wounded Home” (available March 1), “Hope for the Home Front” and “When War Comes Home” workbooks and other reliable resources.

You anoint my head with oil;
Join the front lines! Pray for us. Veterans need prayer support. Their spouses and children need your prayers. Let them know what you are praying. Write it down so they can re-read it on faith-trying days. Many, many days are so dark that finding the words or energy to pray feels impossible. Consider starting a prayer team that meets regularly to pray specifically for the needs of your military families.

Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the LORD

forever.

Veterans and their families struggle with feelings of rootlessness and homelessness. We need reminders that God’s presence is our home, here and for eternity, wherever we are stationed or posted or sent. We need reminders that we are “rooted and established” in His love for us and that no government orders, wars or deaths can ever change that.

Let Go and Let God

Let Go let god

Can You Do This?
Let Go and Let God.

Someone shared this with me and I really liked it
because I kind of believe this is how life works.
It could be possible.

The Secret To Getting Anything You Want Is Admitting
You Don’t Know How You Are Going To Get It.

Just decide what you want.
Admit you don’t know how you are going to get it.
So detach and turn it over to the universe and let your higher self attract it for you.
Your higher self wants it for you just as much as you do or you wouldn’t have the desire.
Stop making things so complicated.  It doesn’t have to be.
Change how you view how you get things.

Although everything points to the contrary it all comes from within you.
The illusion is that it seems like it is coming from the physical things you do.
The physical is secondary.
The physical brings about what the internal has already decided is going to happen.

It has nothing to do with how much work you do or even if what you are doing is correct.
It only depends on what is going on inside you.

Again don’t make it hard.
Just decide what you want, admit you don’t know how you are going to get it, and turn it over to your higher self.

You will be amazed.
We can’t over emphasize this…  you are doing it the hard.

Quite often we are just so certain that we know something but we are just plain wrong.
There are moments when we discover things that completely turn our world around and forever change our lives.

Caregivers For Our Troops

Caregivers For Our Troops

I am so grateful today for the nurses who tend to our soldiers.

After reading “Eye of the Beholder” by Elissa Gabrielle, I learned it takes a special kind of person to take care of our soldiers brought down by war.

The nurse in this story seemed like an angel sent from God.  She took the time to see the person not the victim of war.

And, I am thankful to those who love our soldiers suffering with PTSD.

If anyone we love have this disorder, we have it as well because we have to be there for them.

One of the first steps in  being there for them is like the nurse in the story, see the person, not the victim.  Let love do its magic.

God bless!

You get to choose. by Wayne W. Dyer

When you can accept yourself exactly as you are and
accept others exactly as they are you will finally have peace.
If you want to reach a state of bliss, then go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue.
Make a decision to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to judge.
Those are the three things the ego is doing all the time. It’s very important to be aware of them every time they come up.
by Deepak Chopra

If the universe has given you the passion to want to do something,
then be 100% assured it will give you the ability as well.

You do know you can live your life the way you want to.

Power Of Choice

Power Of Choice

Every tomorrow has two handles.  We can take hold of it with the handle of anxiety or the handle of faith.

by Henry Ward Beecher

Faith is like a radar that sees through the fog – the reality of things at a distance that the human eye cannot see.

by Corrie ten Boom

A dream is the bearer of a new possibility, the enlarged horizon, the great hope.

by Howard Thurman

Live out of your imagination instead of out of your memory.

Insane Means Doing The Same Thing Expecting A Different Result

Insane Means Doing The Same Thing
Expecting A Different Result

Do not react to your feelings… create with them.

Once you truly make up your mind to do something the universe instantly sets things in motion to help you.

You may be surprised at how many good things or people you have let slip through your life because you chose to see things in a negative way.

The universe will give you signs to point you in the right direction. Look for them.

When you get what you want you will look back and see that the only thing that kept you from getting it was something small you were overlooking.

You will wonder why in the world it took you so long to see it.

Believe In Your Dreams

Believe In Your Dreams

Dream big and grow into your dreams.
Hold your dream in your mind and it will appear in the physical world too.

Never be afraid to be you.

Stay aware of your thoughts for they are a preview of things to come.

Hold strong to your convictions no matter how outnumbered you may be.

Know that within you is the confidence to overcome the doubt.
If you can find your confidence you will discover there never was a need to doubt.

Direct Your Mind Or Be Directed

Direct Your Mind Or Be Directed

Unhappiness is a season that will pass, bringing sunshine and flowers.

Do not let fear stop you.

Problems exist in the mind, and it is within the power of the mind to embrace and observe them.

You can be the creator of this moment.

Every moment of life is the most exciting, unbelievably miraculous thing you could imagine.

Once you appreciate this, then even washing the dishes cannot be despised.
